About Production Engineering

Production engineering is a professional practice of manufacturing technology and a production engineer typically has a wide knowledge of engineering practices and is aware of the management challenges related to production. The goal is to accomplish the manufacturing processes efficiently and economically.

The curriculum of Production engineering encompasses the contents with engineering materials, casting technology, machining technology, fabrication, tool engineering, metrology, manufacturing systems, automation, and Rapid manufacturing. In a typical industry, once the design is realized, production engineering concepts regarding work-study, ergonomics, operation research, tooling, manufacturing management, materials management, production planning, transportation, etc., plays important role in efficient production processes. These deal with integrated design and efficient planning of the entire manufacturing system, which is becoming increasingly challenging with the emergence of sophisticated production methods and control systems.

The Department offers B.E (Production Engineering), M.E.(Mechanical) with specialization in CAD/CAM with Robotics. PhD (Mechanical) programmers.

State-of-the-art laboratories are available in the areas of Machining, Sheet metal working, Welding, Robotics, CAD/CAM, CNC Production grade machines, Automation, Modeling, Simulation, Ergonomics, Materials and Industrial Operations Management.

Reputed industries like Larsen &Toubro, Godrej and Boyce, Siemens, Mahindra and Mahindra, TCS, etc employ our students.

Students after undergraduate course join abroad for higher studies in best of the Universities like Cornell USA, Georgia Tech USA, Harvard, USA, Delft, Netherlands, KTH Sweden.

Training and skill development programs are conducted for industries in the areas of manufacturing.

Many research papers have been published in journals and conferences by faculty. The department offers engineering consultancy in the areas of design and manufacturing.
